Task: Preserve and Improve SEO During Migration

Preserve and Improve SEO During Migration

30.09.2026balldecor.ru

Lock in the current search footprint and transfer it without losing valuable URLs and intents.

SEO During Migration

Objective

Preserve the existing organic visibility of balldecor.ru and eliminate the SEO risks posed by the current historical site structure.

Key Tasks

  • Compile a complete registry of indexable URLs, including old .html pages, categories, services, and seasonal landing pages;
  • For each page, record the status, title, description, H1, canonical, robots, internal links, and primary search intent;
  • Identify duplicates and cannibalization between similar pages, especially regarding balloon printing/branding, delivery, and event decor;
  • Make a decision for each URL: keep 1:1, merge via 301, block from indexing, or remove only if proven to have no value;
  • Prepare a redirect map and test it with a crawler before launch;
  • Rebuild sitemap.xml, robots.txt, canonical tags, and structured data;
  • Preserve images and their alt text/URLs where they drive search traffic;
  • After launch, check indexing, 404/5xx errors, redirect chains, and lost landing pages.

Definition of Done

All significant old URLs have a clear decision and a verified new route; there are no mass 404s, accidental de-indexing, or unjustified loss of search intents.

Progress as of 09/30/2026

SEO preparation is largely complete.

  • Compiled a registry of all 4,809 documents, not just URLs from the sitemap.
  • For the documents, URIs, IDs, templates, classes, publication status, access restrictions, SEO data, content sources, and migration decisions have been recorded.
  • 4,553 documents are designated for preservation of URLs/data and a new representation.
  • 166 unpublished documents must not be published automatically.
  • 66 published modWebLink documents must be preserved as redirects.
  • Analyzed 728 historical URIs: 39 require preservation as historical 301 redirects, 6 lead to non-public targets, and 403 errors along with the old payment route have been separately identified.
  • Discovered 5 self-redirects and a URI conflict between a draft and a published document.
  • Executed 835 control GET requests; 35 HTTP 200 responses containing a fatal PHP error inside the response body were separately noted.
  • Mapped 497 sitemap URLs and identified problematic/special addresses.
  • The new HAIH already features SSR fallback, title, description, canonical, and Open Graph tags, while errors are set to noindex. The canonical URL is built using https://balldecor.ru based on the saved URI.

Remaining tasks: implement the redirect map, modWebLink, and historical redirects; connect the metaTitle/metaDescription TVs; finalize indexability/ACL rules; migrate the sitemap, robots, and structured data; perform a full crawl of the new version and a post-release SEO check.
